HIGHER MODULE PERFORMANCE
Power density increase +5.6%
The increased efficiency of the MWT backcontact module is also due to the reduced cell spacing allowed by this technology. Another standout factor is the complete absence of soldered wires and busbars traditionally needed on the top, middle and bottom of 5BB and MBB (Multi Bus-bar) half-cell modules.
BETTER WORK IN LOW LIGHT
Additional efficiency +2.5%
The use of half-cells is becoming the norm in the photovoltaic module industry. This allows to increase the rated power in the STC by reducing the resistive losses. Due to the reduced current, half-cell modules have a lower series resistance than full-cell modules. This improves the peak power of the module, but reduces efficiency at low irradiance. CBS modules provide high module power by utilizing solid cells and optimizing low light performance by adjusting the series resistance in the CBS design.
EFFICIENT HEAT DISTRIBUTION

The power and energy efficiency of the module are derived from its operating temperature and temperature coefficient, driven by the cell technology. In traditional modules, heat is mainly dissipated to the back of the cells, where heating has a negative effect on efficiency. However, in the CBS module, the presence of a (metallised) backing increases heat dissipation and acts as a kind of cooling element/heat sink. Studies have shown that the NOCT (Nominal Operating Cell Temperature) of CBS 5-7ºC modules is lower than that of conventional modules. This is an added benefit for CBS modules resulting in additional energy efficiency.
RESISTANT TO MICRO-CRACKS
Cat5 MWT Solar panels are more robust than conventional modules thanks to the integrated conductive sheet (CBS). Innovative, copper construction ensures optimal contact with a large number of contact points throughout the cell. It acts as an additional (metal) environmental barrier to protect the cells and hold them in place, supporting and reinforcing the interface architecture. High-quality cells combined with high-quality European low-emissivity solar glass and a solid frame make Cat5 MWT Solar solar panels virtually completely resistant to micro-cracks in real-world conditions.
MAX POWER IS NOT EQUAL TO POWER EFFICIENCY
Terms such as HP or power or efficiency are often confused with each other. Some panels generate more energy even if the “power label” or advertised WP value is the same. And these differences can add up, especially in “normal” outdoor conditions, where – unlike in a laboratory with perpendicular light – the amount of daylight, angle, temperature, cloudiness or shade will also play an important role. For comparison: two lamps, both 10 Watt. One is a traditional light bulb. The second is an LED lamp. Same power indication but LED lamp gives 10x higher light factor.
